Abstract

The obligation of Hajj is one of the highest goals, during which millions gather to perform the fifth pillar of Islam. However, this ritual poses many logistical challenges, such as managing crowds, providing medical care and resources, and ensuring the safety and security of pilgrims, and requires successful management on a large scale that requires a workforce of thousands of individuals to work tirelessly to the fullest extent. One of the most prominent challenges faced by the workforce during the Hajj season is the availability of appropriate uniforms for the nature of the work and the environmental and climatic conditions. Work uniforms are a necessity and play an essential role in shaping the identity of workers and the general organization. . One of the most prominent health problems during the Hajj period is heat stress. It is a condition in which the body is unable to regulate temperature, which leads to exhaustion, heat cramps, heat stroke, and in severe cases, death. Through a questionnaire survey of the workforce, the researchers concluded that 75% of their uniforms do not provide resistance to heat stress, and they suggested that 100% of them need head covers, vests, umbrellas, and bags for rest, and 50% support their need for face masks and work shoes. Therefore, the research aimed to develop design solutions and innovative proposals in terms of material and performance to provide maximum protection from thermal stress. It follows the descriptive approach in addition to the applied study, which resulted in a number of (9) proposed designs. The designs were judged through a design evaluation questionnaire to find out the opinions of specialists in the field. Fashion and textile, 11 in number.
