Abstract
The research aims to design an integrated rehabilitation center for people with motor disabilities, given the urgent need for prepared environments that contribute to improving their quality of life and enhancing their integration into society. The research addresses the problem of the lack of facilities designed to meet their needs, which affects their independence and opportunities for education, work and social participation, and limits their ability to live independently and with dignity.
The research methodology focused on analyzing the needs of people with motor disabilities, and studying the challenges they face in traditional facilities, while benefiting from global models of successful rehabilitation centers. The design also focused on applying the principles of "universal design" to ensure an inclusive environment, by providing wide corridors, comfortable waiting areas, and appropriate sanitary facilities. In addition, consideration was given to improving the user experience by designing spaces with good natural lighting, and comfortable colors that contribute to enhancing psychological comfort and reducing the feeling of isolation.
The research also included the integration of smart technology, such as lighting and temperature control systems, and virtual reality technologies to enhance rehabilitation. The center was also designed to encourage independence through multi-functional spaces that include physiotherapy rooms, movement training areas, and social and recreational spaces that support community interaction. In addition, the focus was on using sustainable and environmentally friendly building materials to achieve a comfortable and humane environment that supports the long-term sustainability of the project, while taking into account operational costs to ensure economic efficiency.
The research concluded that establishing a comprehensive rehabilitation center is an essential step to enable people with motor disabilities to overcome daily challenges and achieve a more independent life. It recommended the need for government and private entities to cooperate to develop these facilities and ensure their sustainability, while involving beneficiaries in the design, and enhancing community awareness of the culture of inclusion and acceptance to ensure their integration into society in an effective and sustainable manner, in addition to providing training and rehabilitation programs to support them psychologically and professionally.
